Every Woman

I found a great blog: I'm Just a Beautiful Disaster and I found this on her blog and thought that it is SOOOO true

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a feeling of control over her destiny...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...but its over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. .
whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table...
or a charming inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a month...and a year

This is all so true for me as I am trying to accomplish a better self-being. I am trying to move on passed my past. I am trying not to take things so personally. I am trying to be more trusting and trust others. I am trying to not be so angry all the time. I am trying to be independent yet still dependent.

30 Days of Truth- Twenty-five

Day 25→The reason you believe you are still alive today.

To be honest, I am not even sure. There are times in my life, I wish I wasn't alive but I have pushed them all and I am still here.
I believe in the bigger picture and the Big Man upstairs. I believe he has bigger and better things for me to accomplish in life and that is why he hasn't called me home yet.
I am a mother, I have accomplished that.
I am a wife, I have accomplished that.
I am a high school graduate, I have accomplished that.
I went to college but have yet to graduate.
I have made it to full time job as well as manager, I have accomplished that.

I am not sure what God has in store for me but I am sure He has plans for me and that is why I am still here on this Earth today.

30 Days of Truth - Twenty-Four

Day 24→Make a playlist to someone, and explain why you chose all those songs. (just post the titles and artist and the letter)

This playlist goes out to my best friend. They understand everything about me, the things I do, who I am and why I am the way I am. No one will understand me the way they do.
Allison Krause- When You Say Nothing At All
Kelly Clarkson- My Life Would Suck Without You
Lady Antebellum- Need You Now
Paramore- The Only Exception
Adam Lambert- If I Had You
Bruno Mars- Just The Way You Are
Sugarland- Stuck Like Glue

Broken Computer and Injured Child

My computer, if left on too long, starts smelling like an electrical fire so I am not on it as much til hubby gets it fixed *crosses fingers it will be tonight*

Also lil dude is complaining his leg (thigh) hurts and he can't walk. Not sure if it was asleep when he woke up and it felt funny to him or if he slept on it wrong and it is just sore. I massaged it and put ice/heat on it and he still cries and falls to the floor asking to be carried when he tries to walk. I am not sure if he is milking it or what but I am going to be nursing him today. :(

Will try to catch up sometime this weekend if I can.

30 Days of Truth - Day Twenty-three

Day 23→Something you wish you had done in your life.
Gone to my senior prom
Well, I do but it isn't all that important. Im sure to some it was but it wasn't too me as I went to prom my Sophomore and Junior year of high school.

Invited older sister to my wedding
Well, maybe if I did that my dad and I would not be in the rut we are now.

Stayed in town to get married
Maybe then, I wouldn't have had to try for the last 5 yrs to have a REAL wedding for my family to see.

Been a better friend
There are some I feel I could've been a better friend towards and I lost them...maybe for good because the way I was towards them.

Go to another college and finish school instead of move in with now hubby
Well if I did that, I am sure I would not be married or have a child right now.
I am not really sure what I wish I HAD done in my life. There is so much to choose from but none that stand out to me and scream THAT IS WHAT I WISH I HAD DONE IN MY LIFE.

Mommy Goggles

Of course every mom who takes photos of their kid(s) or sees photos of their child they automatically think or say: "Oh my, he/she is the most beautiful child ever". I know, because I do it ALL THE TIME.
I am also a photographer in my spare time...ya right what is that now a days *chuckles* and I wanted to show off some of the past photos I have taken of my child.

And last but not least...can't help but to show off his long gorgeous eyelashes

30 Days of Truth - Day Twenty-two

Day 22→Something you wish you hadn't done in your life.

Personally, I wish I hadn't met my dad.....yes, I said it. He has made my life hell for the last 6 yrs and I am sure most of you will be like "well, no, actually YOU have LET him make your life hell." Okay, so you say what you want but not really. You dont know my life, you dont know my dad and you dont know what we have gone through so keep your nose out of it! That is what I wish I hadn't done and in a way I am sure I will wish I hadn't wrote this blog! *chuckles*

P.S Yes, I know I am a day behind...I am so busy with work, haven't been feeling good and catching up on mommy and me time with my son as well as catching up on sleep, I am not caught up on 30 days of truth yet.

Meet a New Mommy

I am hosting a new mommy every week that you can check out her blog, her business, etc.
Today's mommy is Autumn from Ramblings of a Frantic Mother.

[first name]
Autumn

[city]
Pontotoc Mississippi

[how long you've been a mom]
Almost 2 years now.  I have been a mom for 22 months now.

[occupation]
I am a SAHM, and LOVE it

[tell us about your family (whatever you are comfortable sharing with us)]
My husband meant when I was 14, and married when I was 16. I know that sounds a little weird, but we love each other and could not be any happier. He is only 5 years older them me, well 5 years and 4 days.  We own a house and 2 cars, 2 dogs, and 4 fish. We only have one son. He was a Thanksgiving baby. I had him by C-section at 6:51 AM after being in labor for over 18 hours.

[favorite things in life - big and small]
I love to read, I am a big book worm. I always sneak away for an hour or 2 just to read a few chapters of a book. My husband knows when I get a book down and head to the bedroom, that I have put myself in time out. I also love to play with my son. I think I play more now then I did when I was a child. I enjoy hid and seek, and rolling on the floor more now then I did as a child. I guess getting joy from the simple things in life is a mom thing.

[give us an example of how you've gotten your groove back after becoming a mom (mind, body and/or soul).]
I am only 18, so losing my groove was never a big thing for me. I was just a teenager when I got pregnant. It was planed, because we knew that we could do it. My husband had a job and a vehicle and was already on his own.  A lot of people think that because I was young when I got pregnant I would be a bad mom or be on welfare, but we accept no government help. Being a mom gives me great joy, and I know a lot of people will say things, like I lost my childhood, or my son will see me as more of a play mate then a mother. That is not true at all through. I took care of my brother and sister most of my childhood because my mother was sick, and my step father was a bum. My son is very well behaved and everyone always complements us on how respectful he is for being so young. There is know reason I can not be a friend to my son, and a mother.

[a mom of inspiration to you?]
This is were most people put their own mother. If any thing I strive to be unlike my mother in everyway. My Aunt Mindy is my inspiration. She has 1 son and is a wonderful mother. She had a hard time getting pregnant and always wanted a child. When she finally got her son she turned out to be an excellent mother. She is almost 40 and her son is 7 now. He is very well behaved and knows how well loved he is.

[pet peeve(s)]
Oh no! I have so many! ( Insert sarcasm here) I really do not have any. I could say, when my husband dose not make the bed, but I don't either so I can't complain. I don't really have any, not much really bothers me. I am one of those rolling with the flow kind of moms. It that how you say it? I think it is more of going with the flow. HEHE

[how do you describe motherhood in just one word?]
Exhilarating

[favorite web site]
The one I spend the most time on is Facebook. I love uploading pictures for my family out west. I spend a lot of time on Circle of Mom's.

[movie or book you recommend to other mommy readers/why?]
The Guardian By: Nicholas Sparks is a book I would recommend. It is just a really good book. It is one of those finding the love of your life books and then losing them only to discover you can have more then one great love in your life. It’s a story of a woman who is down and out on her luck who is rescued by a small town sales man. He dies not long after they marry and she gets a gift from him, that helps her through out the book.

[favorite indulgence]
Can I say alone time? Can that be covered under indulgence. I love to indulge in alone time. I don't get much of it, but when I do, OH BOY I run with it. Have you ever heard that saying give them an inch and that take a mile. I am like that with my alone time.  The conversation for me and my husband is a lot like this
" I am going to go paint my toe nails, give me 10"
"Alright, I am going to watch ESPN"
     2 hours go by
"Autumn, what are you doing?"
" Painting my toe nails."
" It dose not take that long to paint 10 toes, what else have you been doing?"
" Well I took a shower, then I decided I wanted to shave, then after I shaved I noticed that the bathroom need to be wiped down. I did all that then felt a little tired so I took a 30 min power nap, and now I am painting my toe nails. I will be out in 5"
30 min go by before I come out of the bedroom.
That is about a once a week thing. I am glad I have a husband who dose not mind watching our little one while I pamper myself, besides, if he dose not want me looking like big foot then I need alone time.
Thanks Autumn for sharing with us this week. Go follow Autumn at her blog in the link above.
I would like to feature a new mommy each week so go to my blog about featuring new mommies and email me your information. If you dont have a blog but have a business, shoot me your business information and I can share that here as well!

Gerry The Giraffe

Say "hello" to Gerry the Giraffe. He has a twin brother, but his brother is not involved in this incident. Gerry volunteered to sit outside my work last night with a Learning Express apron around his neck to promote our store and bring in lots of young kids. (Our store is geared toward infant-14 yrs of age).
Last night, around 8pm-ish, as I was eating dinner, I received a phone call that Gerry was abducted but safely returned by mall security. I drove as fast as I could to Gerry's rescue to the store to find the thief (a 15-17 yr old boy) sitting in the back of a Garland squad car. The mall security informed me that charges have been pressed and he would not be allowed to come back to the mall within a 2 yr period as he was charged with mall trespassing. I told the officers that we were going to press charges against him. Gerry is worth $99.99 (so $100) and it would be one thing if he stole a $10 toy but Gerry is our most expensive plush we have in our store.
A few minutes later, the thief wanted me to listen to his side of the story....as opposed to the officers', the security and Gerry's side??? Okay, fine, but you will be wasting my time.
He kept saying how he has never done anything like this and he has never been the one to get in trouble for anything but he said it was dark and it was a spur of the moment thing. Okay, well now you have to learn your lesson from your spur of the moment thing. He even offered to help find the apron that was MIA (missing in action) if that would help drop the charges. Ummmm....no thanks but thanks for the offer! I told him I have a 15 yr old and a 4 yr old and if ANY of them were to get in any kind of trouble with the law, they would have to sit in holding for a night to learn their lesson. If I was to say, okay thanks for admitting you were wrong, thanks for owning up to your wrong doing, and thanks for offering to find the missing apron, charges will be dropped....what does that show to other kids who try to steal from my store? Nothing, it shows that that I will be just as forgiving and not press charges against them.
Today, I will be at work for 6 hours and let's just hope nothing AS exciting will happen today but I am hoping for a good day....especially now that Gerry is safe in our store and he will just, for now on, be sitting in a window staring at the outdoors wishing he were bringing in more kids.....cops say he can't stand outside anymore. :(

30 Days of Truth- Day Twenty-one

Day 21→ (scenarios) Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got in a fight an hour before. What do you do?

Well on a normal day, I would say I would feel guilty and beat myself up over it. Especially if it was a deadly accident.
Now a days I would say I would of course feel guilty about fighting with my best friend and be at his or her side until they got better and help them in anyway possible. When it all done and over, I would vow to never leave angry....sorta like never go to bed angry.

Zingo!

I was not feeling well today so I left work early. BUT, before I left, I got lil dude a new game called Zingo. It is Bingo with a twist and it is for ages 4+. We were at Borders last night (book store) and he threw a fit about a book I was going to get him (The Little Engine That Could) and so we didnt get it. Then he wanted a book so I went to let him pick out his own but my dear hubby left the store and I could not be sure if I was "allowed" to get him the book/toy or not as dear hubby was paying some bills and didnt want to use money that was needed for bills. I felt really bad for not letting lil man get anything so I was a good mommy and brought him home a game.
He is having a blast with it and he has won 5 out of the 7 games we played together! It teaches learning skills such as: matching, reading skills, memorization and playing as a team or competitive.

30 Days of Truth - Day Twenty

Day 20→ Your views on drugs and alcohol.

"Please sir, may I have some more?" *Chuckles*
Actually, I could use some OVER THE COUNTER drugs right now like Midol, Ibprofen, Tylenol and maybe some nice Smirnoff to take the edge off a bit.
I do not do any illegal or bad legalized drugs *chuckles* but I do drink.....only in social environments with friends and/or family around the holidays. That is about it.
Other than that, I dislike drugs and alcohol especially if you are an addict.

First Step Is Always The Hardest

And I made it last night and will be making the actual first step either this coming week or next. I will fill you all in when I have more information or if it is working. It is a step to a better me.

30 Days of Truth - Day Nineteen

Day 19→ What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?

At the moment, I will say I do not believe in politics....at least I have not since the Bill Clinton days (as far back as I can remember what the Presidents have done for this country). Not a lot of good has come out of many of them.
I do believe in religion. I do believe in God. I do not always go to church but like I have said before it is just a building and as long as you keep your faith and pray then there is nothing to worry about.

Always Be Aware of Your Surroundings

So I was at the park this afternoon enjoying a WAY TOO breezy day but at least it wasn't hot. I kept thinking to myself, if anything was to happen to my child, would I be aware of my surroundings and be able to tell officers or anyone else the events and things that took place.

Look above you:
The picnic bench awning

Look below you:
My feet, my shoes, my lil man's shoes and part of my condensating drink (even though it wasn't that hot out....all my ice melted within 10 min)

Look in front of you:
My lil man coming for a drink of water

Look to your left:
Some homes, the parking lot, my car, and a bike rack.

Look to your right:
An empty seat.

Look behind you:
The pond and some businesses.

I thought that was fun! It also shows what kind of day I have had. I am enjoying my days off from work!

Mommys Do NOT Build Forts

Okay, maybe we used to as kids in the living room with cardboard boxes and blankets.
I promised my son some "mommy and me" time last night by telling him I would build a fort (for the 2nd time in his room this year) and I would sleep with him in the fort. 1) I KNOW I will wake up in the morning with the WORST back ache ever and 2) I KNOW I would wake up still feeling VERY tired because lack of sleep.
The reasons mommys do not build forts are:
1) because they fall down in the middle of the night on your child
2) because they are not sturdy enough the roof starts to cave in on you
3) because it gets really hot under all the blankets
4) because it gets hard to breathe and
5) because there just isn't enough room to sit up and read bedtime stories or toss and turn without hitting something.
Our fort with no "canopy"/roof
The floor of our fort. Mommy slept on the left and lil man slept on the right.
Our fort all done
Lil man peeking out from the base of our fort "cheese-ing" it
Lil man inside the fort again with a cheesy grin

Lil man was scared of monsters or something so Buzz Lightyear came to the rescue as "night guard". He even had his laser ready!
Mommy and lil man. He said the flash was too bright (as I took the photo in complete darkness) and that is why his eyes were closed.

CANT WAIT

I cannot wait to see my monkey tonight!!!!

I cannot wait for him to open his gifts!

Press down on Inchworm's back and watch him zoom across the floor!Wheels feature colorful moving beads. Easy to press for little hands!

It's a touchy feely book where baby/infant can feel parts of the monkey and know what parts of the body are what and what means soft, rough, velvety, etc.

This 7.25 inch monkey swims around furiously through the water. Simply wind his arms backward and let him go!

30 Days of Truth - Day Eighteen

Day 18→ Your views on gay marriage.

All I have to say is AS LONG AS THE COUPLE ARE HAPPY.
Dignity & respect: "The institution of marriage conveys dignity and respect towards a couple that make a lifetime commitment to support each other"
SSC (same sex couples) deserve dignity and respect
Equal Rights: Denying marriage to same-sex couples removes from one group a fundamental, important human right -- the right to marry the person that one loves and to whom one has made a commitment. That is unfair and unjust in a democracy.
Financial & Security: Denying one group the right to marry has many adverse emotional and financial consequences. Examples are Social Security, Medicare, medical leave, and other benefits; property inheritance; the right to visit their spouse in hospital, and make medical decisions if they are incapacitated; security of the couple and of their children.

Ways to Say "Im Sorry"

I'm sorry I was such a "jerk"
(with a small bag of jerky)

They say the best way to make up with a girl is buy her jewelry...I hope they're right
(attached with a ring pop)

Sometimes I can be a real airhead...I'm sorry I forgot about...
(with airhead candy)

Can I come out of the dog house now? I'm really sorry.
(candy dog treats or a plush dog)

I made a big mistake...I wish I could erase it. I'm sorry.
(with eraser/whiteout, etc)

Sorry I put my foot in my mouth.
(with gift certificate for foot massage to a spa or from you)

I'm sorry I let you down...maybe this sweet-smelling gift will help clear the "air"
(candle, air freshener, etc)

I'm so sorry. Please give me "another shot".
(Something for their camera)

Please bear with me during this hard time...I dont mean to take it out on you. I'll try harder
(teddy bear or gummy bears)

I've gotten a chance to "cool off" and I realize that I overreacted. I'm Sorry
(quart of their favorite ice cream)

"give me another chance and I promise I will knock your socks off"
(new, fluffy socks)

I'll go "nuts" if you dont forgive me. Im really sorry
(A bag of their favorite nuts)

Anyway I can say it, I'm sorry
(send a card with "im sorry" written in multiple languages)

One Year Ago Today

Happy Birthday Monkey!!!!!

I arrive with my lil man at around 9am Monday the 21st. My brother was already there when I arrived as well as my mother. Contractions were up and down for a few hours.
Mom was giggles, laughs and sometimes tears as the pain was too tense for her to bear.
Mom helped Nana (our mother) out with her math homework...yes my mother did her math homework while she waited for her baby to have a baby!
At around 3:15 (well my camera says this photo was taken at 3:16pm) my lil monkey (my nephew) was born into this world.
All clean and not crying.
He weighed in at 7 lbs 5 oz.
Mom happy to have baby in her arms.

Here is Mom and lil monkey on the 19th for his 1st birthday party

I will get to see my lil monkey in a few days or so to give him his gifts!!!! How time flies!
