Twas The Day Before Christmas

I frequent I'm a Lazy Mom and Surviving and Thriving in Mom-dom and saw they both wrote a cute "Twas the day/night Before Christmas" parody in their blogs and thought I would try to give it a shot. I haven't wrote poetry in a long time and my brain is tired from all the drama at work (for another blog) and from all the cleaning. So here is my go at it! Enjoy!

'Twas the day before Christmas, when all through the house

This busy momma was trying to clean her house;

The stockings were hung by the fireplace with care,

In hopes that they wouldn't go up in flames by the time Christmas was here;

The children were all upstairs playing their video games,

While momma was dealing with work drama and calling people dirty names;

And dear hubby with his game controller in his lap,

Had just sat down to give other gamers a slap,

When in lil one's bedroom came such a horrid smell,

Momma rushed in to see it was dog poop, you could tell.

Away to the living room she flew like a flash,

To see the dog running away in a dash.

She cleaned up the mess while tears welled up in her eyes

Not because she was upset but because her cleaning just doubled in size!

Among the cleaning supplies, she nitpicked,

And prayed the cleaning would be done quick.

When she finished her cleaning,

She hopped in the shower, it was steaming.

Her cleaning was done,
And it was done with time to spare, she was stunned

When what to her wondering eyes should appear,

But a message across her computer screen brought her a tear.

"Wishing all my family and friends a very Merry Christmas this year" it read

It was from my brother in Florida and that is what he said!

So here I am wishing you a very Merry Christmas to you all

And hoping your New Year is a ball!
